Please help me to continue my treatment against Cancer.

Hello, I am a young male from n kichwa-otavalo, Ecuador. My name is Edwin Maldonado I am 27 years old. I look after my family, my daughter (4 years old) and wife. I have always considered myself a honest and reliable person. I have fought for what I think is right and accomplishing my goals. I have been 5 years happily married. We were just starting to set up goals together and reach our dreams as a family. We were starting our own business which always kept me active and looking for ways to improve my family life quality. I learned from a very young age to solve my needs always giving my best effort; but our future is now uncertain when this nightmare began and our lives took a totally unexpected turn of events.

One day at the end of October 2019 in the morning as I was going to my little work place, when I started to feel a general discomfort. I felt really sick. I was still unaware of what was going on with me, so I ignored it and carried on the rest of my day as usual. Days passed but I wasn’t feeling any better but rather the symptoms were increasing and it was no longer only pain, but physical symptom: red dots on the skin began to be seen, exhaustion to the point that my body and face became enveloped in a yellowish color. It was just then when we decided to visit the doctor who suggested that we do the respective tests. The result was acute lymphoblastic leukemia better known as blood cancer. Hearing the word cancer makes us think of definive death, however at the end of the tunnel there is always light. I started my treatment and go on cycle 6 of 15 chemotherapies. It has not been easy to get here, the doctor warned us that the treatment brings ups and downs, we are walking in the middle of this constant struggle.

So far I have had two strong relapses that led me to be in intensive care where I have debated between life and death the light of hope I have for all this is to get a bone marrow transplant that ensures me to have a long and normal life, but the situation is somewhat uncertain due to the appearance of the Covid-19 pandemic which has hit terribly my country. This has been a stone of delay in my treatment because it makes us more vulnerable than we already are, apart from its great cost $ in Ecuador in the only place where these transplants are achieved are in the city of Guayaquil, where it has been the epicenter of this horrible virus... All this has come together and has been an impediment to continue my personal progress; I can no longer work and I can no longer watch over the future of my family.There are times when I lose strength and faith but I trust there are better days to come. I already lost all my hair, although I am afraid of dying I have not let that fear win the battle for a single day thanks to my wife who takes care and supports me, my daughter who is my motor, I continue with faith, strength and love for life in this constant struggle.
