EcoREactive Workshop for Plastic Recycling

The idea of ​​the project is submitted on behalf of the NGO "Mountain Rescue Centre", Ukraine. Over the past 3 years, our team has implemented a number of projects in the field of ecology and environmental protection. In 2018 we launched a program "Rescuers for Nature", in which annually we conduct educational work with communities on the need to preserve nature. In 2018-2019, we organized up to 30 eco-actions to clean the banks of the Dniester river. It was then that the idea arose of the need to organize the possible processing of the collected plastic.

Thus, an active "eco-team" was formed, which studies the experience of other regions in terms of plastic processing. Today in Ukraine, almost 96% of all waste, including plastic, is sent to landfills, where it decomposes for hundreds of years, polluting the environment, although such waste can be turned into a precious resource.

Therefore, we are creating a workshop EcoREactive for plastic processing of the type HDPE (2) to start it with, and in the future add other types (LDPE, PP, PS, etc.), on the basis of which we will organize workshops on making various products from recycled plastic, training in culture garbage sorting. Now we have our own crusher and mini-oven. We are finishing the production of the extruder; thus, we are raising funds to purchase a thermo-press.

We will turn the plastic saved from landfills into interesting, useful things that can be used both in everyday life and for the improvement of tourist routes and recreation areas in our region.
