Premature Baby Graziella

Hi everyone!

I am Shiela Campillanes, mother of one-month old premature baby, Graziella Campillanes, from Cavite, Philippines. I had my emergency C-section after experiencing pre-eclampsia and gave birth at my 8th month (32 weeks).

Baby Graziella's early life journey

Graziella was born on May 23, 2020 6/12 weighing just 1.16 kg (underweight for her age). By then, the doctor informed us that she has blood infection, pneumonia and high sodium concentrate in blood. She was repeatedly being treated with antibiotics and monitored by various lab exams in her incubator. It was also found out that she has grade 1 germinal matrix hemorrhage based on cranial ultrasound results. After several weeks, she recovered and get into shape.

Until one day, we noticed that her stomach is quite large and after several blood exams, her platelets dropped from 180 to 10, her RBC and WBC also dropped below the normal. This sudden drop caused her to be in a critical condition in her ventilator. She also needed to undergone a surgery to put cut down insertion since her blood streams are all ruptured already due to the endless injections, transfusions and antibiotics in her body.
