Identity VerifiedHello! My brother in law, John Mathegi got an accident at work in the Karen area of Nairobi on August, 9th 2020. A 3 inch steel nail pierced his eye, tearing and damaging it completely.
He got admitted to the Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi on the same day and underwent surgery. He has since lost vision in the eye. At the time of his accident, he was the sole breadwinner of his family comprising a wife who is my sister and two kids. The first born son, Ethan, is autistic and my sister is fully occupied raising these two children especially now during the pandemic when schools are closed nationwide.
His hospital bill on discharge was at $560. A doctor I spoke with advised that due to the level of injury to his eye, he is at high risk of infection hence his recovery process will entails doctor visits to the hospital and a lengthy period at home to recover completely.
