Project Namnama: Clean and Safe Drinking Water for Isabela

Project Namnama (Hope) is a VSO RV & Staff-led initiative responding to the immediate need of households/families affected by Typhoon Ulysses in East Tabacal, Isabela, Philippines. The goal of Project Namnama is to provide the residents with safe drinking water until their water supply is back to its normal level.

Why East Tabacal?

East Tabacal is composed of the badly-hit barangays in Isabela that are mostly located in the low-lying areas of Cauayan City. It is adjacent to the Cagayan River wherein farming is the main source of livelihood. The priority, for now, is to provide access to clean & safe drinking water for each household by providing them the filled 5-gallon water container (blue jerrycan) which is good for a few days. This is a more sustainable response to the water needs of the barangays as it is refillable and reusable, and good for the environment. 

Why Project “Namnama” (Hope)?

 After hearing what felt like hopeless stories of farmers whose crops and homes were completely submerged in floodwater, the Team Leads of this Project intends to inspire them to hope. Namnama is the Ilocano word for HOPE. We want to remind the Cauayenos that there is hope. "Hope is alive when there's unity". ???Who supports us?  Thus, we would like to appreciate your DONORS, VOLUNTEERS, and SUPPORTERS for uniting with us. Your kindness and the goodness of your heart bring smile and HOPE to our household members.

Why donate?

Your help is still much needed. As you might see in the news and social media, the floodwater has subsided but barangays are still covered with muds, others still in floodwater with no access to clean & safe drinking water. 

One household is composed of 3-7 family members, multiple that to at least 3 jerrycans from your P500 donation totals to 9-21 family members you’re helping and giving HOPE. Imagine that! ? ?? Kahit 150 Lang yan ISANG BUONG PAMILYA na abot nya. ???Your KIND DONATION gives them food on the table and clothes them warmly. ??? (These communities are agricultural lands and the floodwater submerged everything!!!)
