Hello everyone!

We are a team of 3 Latina, Colombian and entrepreneurial women, made up of 2 biologists and a chemical engineer.

Ideas for sustainable Colombian biodiversity

That due to the current situation derived from the pandemic we are unemployed. As a result of this, we have decided to bet on a business idea that promotes the strengthening of the sustainable economy in the region and contributes to the care of the environment and Colombian biodiversity.

Thus, we created “MAKURIWA”, which aims to mitigate the negative impact that plastic has on the environment after it has been used and disposed of.

This initiative addresses the contradictions found in the market for the quality of sports products and the environmental pollution generated by plastic waste; since they take more than 100 years to degrade. We'd like to make a sustainable business in the textile industry which once became a great generator of pollution and ignorance about the biodiversity of Colombian flora and fauna. Well, in order to conserve and preserve the nature, we are sure that the situation must be made clear.

We want to bet on the commercialization of swimwear, microfiber towels, swim shorts and sportswear in general, made of fabric made from fishing nets and 100% recycled PET bottles.

Recycled polyester gives a second life to a material that is not biodegradable and would otherwise end up in landfills or the ocean.

Campaign on Conscious consumption of eco-friendly products

We want MAKURIWA products to be a medium of raising awareness and disseminating issues on our biodiversity to further promote the conservation and pro-nature adjustment. This would be achieved through our designs. All this effort will ultimately translate into conscious consumption of eco-friendly products.

We are characterized by our passion for the science and conservation campaign, and those ideas made us able to deliver meaningful messages to our customers together with products that they will enjoy. Each of us has aptitudes that enrich our work and that help us to stay together, we think that the most valuable thing for a business idea to emerge is the understanding and communication between its partners, and in this case we have the same goal and passion ... MAKURIWA!
