My brother's cancer

Hello, my name is Karina Medina with my brother and my nephew. We live in the city of Queretaro in Mexico. On December 2019 my brother was diagnosed with advanced stage 4 gastric cancer. Since then I decided to move with him and my nephew to help them. As a treatment my brother began chemotherapy and as a side effect he began to suffer from fatigue, weakness and weight loss; even though he underwent surgery, it did not help at all because the doctor only opened and closed him up again. The cancer was already very advanced and was no longer operable and what remained to be done was to continue with treatment so the cancer would not advance any further and provide him with a better quality of life. We are doing what we can, but his health is getting worse every day and so is our economic situation. My nephew lost his job and my brother has not received his disability because his status has changed and he is in the process of declaring work disability in his health insurance, this has been a long process that has not been resolved.

I, for one, cannot work full time because now my brother requires personal care since he is thinner and weaker every day.

Because of the quarantine it has been difficult for my nephew to find work and I was not able to return to mine to help him either. I work on international cruises, but because of the pandemic most cruises are not working.

Now the only income we have is that of our family and friends, for that reason we are very grateful. My brother has always been very kind and gentle, that is why he has received help, but our situation is critical, so I decided to do this project to ask for help, if we get it we will use it for food, mainly for my brother who has a specific diet, for services, gas and things of cleaning and personal hygiene while my nephew recovers economically and my brother receives his disability.
