Hello everyone,

'Viaje al interior de la perla' or A Journey inside the Pearl is an educational proposal for isolated children who have no internet connection in rural areas in Pereira, Colombia.

The concept

In this project, we combine elements of the Quimbaya-Kumba legacy with methodologies of neuropsychology and artistic pedagogy to achieve a non-linear and multisensory narrative that aims to affect the daily lives of children who do not have internet access in rural areas in a positive way by guaranteeing their right to access to cultural content and recreational activities designed for their well-being and development.

The background

For this approach we have used the recent findings of professors Anielka Gelemur-Rendón and Guillermo Rendón, compiled in "El Misterio del Kirma-Quimbayas de Hoy" in 2016.

How would we carry it out

Stories and activities were articulated through questions that involve different psychological dimensions. We designed and carried out a telephone interview to get in touch with the parents and thus learn about some of the current conditions of children.

With the data obtained by the questionnaire, it will be possible to verify the scope of the specific effects that the didactic approach may have, in addition to enhancing the successes and working on opportunities for improvement in each of the aspects of the proposal.

Team: Laura Villana, Catalina Gómez Rueda

In collaboration with: Juliana Torres, Irene Rodríguez, Ana María Coy Herrera, Pablo Ibarra.

Supported by: Museo de Arte de Pereira, Kupa y Organiverso.

The award, thank you!

This project won a Research-Creation Grant in Visual Arts from the Secretary of Culture of Pereira, Colombia called Culture at Home 2020 call.

We thank all the parents, educators, artists and friends who have been present in the process, contributing enormously and to all those who want to contribute even with their good vibes. :)
