Construct Rainwater harvest tanks at our orphanage school

Hello everyone,

My name is Buhungiro Andrew, aged 32 years. I am a Ugandan citizen who grew up in a society that was hard for a child to be nurtured from due to societal effects. Thank God I had good parents who knew the great importance of education and molded me into the person I am today.

I am doing fundraising because I want to provide safe clean water to more than 190 children at my orphanage school and the surrounding community members. Am the founder of a well-known kids charity Community-Based school in my community (Faith Angels Nursery & Primary School).

My journey until ”Faith Angels Nursery and Primary School” was founded.

During my youth stage, I developed empathy and love for helping young children who were still living in inhuman situations. The majority of these children hailed from broken extended families that have been affected by HIV/Aids scourge. I thus believed that it was only through attaining complete education that my dream of giving a second hand of help to needy children would be fulfilled.

After completing my studies, I was compelled out of the working experience with vulnerable communities to empower the marginalized groups of children with education.

It's out of this background that an orphanage school” Faith Angels Nursery and Primary School” was founded. Faith Angels Nursery and primary school is a local community-based charity non – profit school that was established in 2015 s.

Supporting vulnerable children to get equal life and educations

This was out of my kind heart of ensuring that there is access to basic needs including good education for orphans and other vulnerable children that come from hard to reach communities. These communities have often been abandoned by both the government and other civil society organizations whose interventions often target old people and thus living out the youth who are the future generation. The school currently supports more than 190 vulnerable children.

These children have therefore oftentimes missed out on the government program of universal primary education. They have been abandoned by both their parents and caregivers and thus resorting to gambling and alcohol drinking at a tender age.

It’s, therefore, Faith Angels school’s desire to see that these children attain education despite their family backgrounds, religion, and age. We do not only focus on academics but also on the context of faith and other human basic requirements like food, clothing, and a minimum living standard. The school recognizes that each child is an individual; that all children are created equal and that all children need to succeed.

Among the daily activities includes HIV guidance and counseling, Home visits, Evangelism, Provision of food, clothing, and shelter to the children, community Sensitization, promotion of good Health & sanitation practices among the communities.

It is therefore under our objective (4) (To support the programs of Primary Health Care and community water programs) that we request your support towards our project.

Our orphanage school is located in a remote village with a hilly landscape where there is no access to clean water.

Children have to walk 7 km down the hill to fetch water from the nearest source.

Because of covid-19, the children have been home with their caregivers since 18th March 2020. We expect the government to re-open all schools for all students in March 2020.

It's our desire to construct rainwater harvesting tanks at our school so that there is enough clean water for the children's consumption. This will also provide clean water to the surrounding community which has more than 250 households with 2000+ members.
