Battle for Stage 4 MPNST Cancer: Richard Cezar Mercado

Hello everyone,

I am Richard Cezar Mercado, 34 years old from Pasig, Philippines, and diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma Stage 4, MPNST (Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor).

The beginning story of Battle with Stage 4 MPNST Cancer

This battle started last year, 2019, and still battling this sickness as of today together with my loved ones. I started to feel nerve pain, electric shock on my right foot and leg and this went to foot drop.

As I started to get hospitalized and more laboratory results, it ended up catching a malignant tumor on my right thigh's SCIATIC NERVE

We had surgery last October 2019 and November 2019 wherein we needed to cut a part of my sciatic nerve where the malignant tumor resided, this was a nerve grafting procedure and would affect my walking capability on my right foot.

2 new tumors grew back at 2020

After the operation, my right foot is totally numb and foot drop, more electric shock, and nerve pain are being experienced up to now since the nerve is already damaged.

I had my radiation therapy for 30 sessions last February 2020 to March 2020; this targeted the surgery part on my right thigh where the tumor was removed.

By April 2020, I started to feel chest pain in my left lung particularly. This pain would last a week and would disappear, every month I did feel this chest pain, May 2020, June 2020.

In June 2020, the chest pain got worst, it was like something from the inside is being crashed and pinched. I even got a fever because of the severe pain that I used to feel. I was rushed to the Emergency room of a hospital here in Pasig and did some laboratories but did not find any root cause of the pain and fever; I was discharged the same night though.

After a month, July 2020, the pain was back on my left chest and at that time I can touch something from the outside of my left chest. I needed to undergo CT Scan and that did catch a big mass on my left lung, residing on the outer part tissue of my left lung.

I also undergo MRI on my right thigh to check if everything is already clear since my operation last November 2019, sadly to say, 2 new mass/tumors grew back on the same spot of my sciatic nerve. This is the reason why the electric shock and tingling feeling on my right foot and leg got worsen because of the new mass/tumor on my sciatic nerve.

Help me to fight my Cancer

As of today, I also tried herbal/natural medicine to fight these bad cancer cells but unfortunately, the tumor on my left lung is getting bigger, heavier on my chest and my back also feels a lot of pain as well because of pleural effusion.

The funds that will be raised and collected will be used for my next operation on my chest and right thigh to remove the tumors and to undergo intensive medication like targeted therapy, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and physical therapy for my walking capability on my right foot and leg.

Hoping anyone with a good heart would get touched with the story of my battle and help me financially so I can proceed with the next intensive medication needed for my sickness.
