Please help me buy an Incubator and change lives!

Hello everyone! Thank you for taking your time to read my story,

My name is Jean and I am a 44-year-old woman from South Africa who is determined to make a change to my family's life and those who work with me.

My wife and I live in a small rural town just outside Plettenberg Bay on a farm. Our dream is to use our farm to feed our family and improve the lives of others.

Help us to build the farm to help the other get through these difficult times

The Coronavirus has made life difficult for everyone and now more than ever, communities are relying on one another for help to get through each day. This is where platforms like crowdfunding can be a lifeline!

We have looked into many ways of trying to build the farm so that we can grow and give back to others, offering them the opportunity to grow and be improve their lives also. Financial stresses are always a major obstacle, but as I am determined to make our story a success, I have started by using all our resources available to start a small chicken farm.

Having an Incubator, plans to minimize expenses

We began by building a large coop to house some chickens who could lay eggs and produce meat. This we did by using only recycled and unwanted building materials so as to keep costs minimal. Our cash flow was used to buy a pair of beautiful local chickens. We have since managed to increase the flock by adding an additional two laying hens and four laying chicks - chicks are much cheaper than buying point of lay hens.

However, I soon realized that buying chickens was expensive and that I needed to look at another way of increasing my flock and creating some turnover. I just didn't have the money to do this, so I tried an alternative option, to build my own incubator that could hatch the eggs laid by our three hens.

Unfortunately, I was not as successful as I had hoped and after doing even more research, I discovered that if I could purchase a locally built incubator, I could start hatching eggs and getting a return in less than a month.

Help us to buy a decent Incubator

A decent incubator would not only give me the opportunity to increase my flock, but it would also enable me to expand my business to selling live chickens, thus enabling other community members to feed their families or even better, start their own business. There is a saying that goes: "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach him to fish and he will never go hungry."

I know that R 20 000.00 is a lot of money, the amount makes me shudder, but I also know that it is an investment into my life and the lives of many other people too, so I am willing to give it my best shot! Truth be told, if I only manage to raise some of that, I will still make magic happen, I believe in this project and I know that this business can change lives!!!

Currently, I have 2 amazing young guys who work with me on the farm, part of my dream is to help them also become self-sufficient and improve their lives. The incubator that I would like to buy is locally produced and this, in turn, allows me to support local business also.
