UNA MUJER AFROCOLOMBIANA QUE BUSCA CAMBIAR SU HISTORIA

US$5000 to make a diference and change my life.

Mi nombre es Maryoris Mosquera Mosquera , nací en Barranquilla, Colombia, de padres afrocolombianos oriundos del Chocó biodiverso. Desde pequeña mis padres, mis 5 hermanos y yo tuvimos que huir de Barranquilla a Bogotá  en calidad de desplazados como consecuencia de la violencia y las amenazas a mi padre quien se desempeñaba en la Policía Nacional.

Desde entonces nos convertimos en VICTIMAS del conflicto armado interno colombiano, siendo ya no solamente discriminada por el hecho de ser afro, sino también por haber sido  “rotulada” y reconocida como  una víctima más obligándome a superarme sorteando toda clase de adversidades.

Sin embargo, tengo una personalidad amable y empática, y a pesar de todo soy muy  optimista,  creo en mi y mi potencial como mujer y nada me va a detener. Gracias a esto logre terminar mis estudios de bachillerato y técnicos y poder vincularme laboralmente en las áreas de call centers en Colombia, para seguir avanzando y luchando con determinación.

Este año en medio de la pandemia logre matricularme en la Fundación Universitaria del Área Andina en el programa académico profesional de ingeniería industrial alternando mi trabajo con las clases virtuales. Este primer semestre lo terminé con las mejores notas de mi clase y la experiencia universitaria me ha abierto unos nuevos horizontes y una visión del mundo que me compromete con todo e igualmente me confirma que tengo todas las habilidades personales y profesionales para terminar con mucho éxito mi carrera.

Desafortunadamente, continuar mis estudios con un salario relativamente bajo y manteniéndome de manera independiente simplemente hacen muy difícil que pueda continuar mis estudios.

Por esta razón,  lanzo esta campaña de fundraising a todas aquellas personas que no solamente creen en el potencial de las mujeres, afro en particular, sino que ven a personas como yo y mi historia, no como unas victimas atrapadas por la violencia y ahora por la indiferencia de las instituciones gubernamentales que no quieren resarcirnos,  para que a través de sus donaciones contribuyan a la educación superior de personas como yo como agentes del cambio y la transformación del tejido social en países como Colombia.

Mi semestre tiene un valor de COP $3’600.000 de pesos (US$ 1.000) que incluidos otros costos de manutención, libros y transporte ascienden a COP $5 millones (US$1.500). En ese sentido mi meta para este año es lograr obtener 15 millones de pesos.

Estoy convencida que de lograr mi meta y poder matricularme antes de terminar el 2020 posteriormente podre seguir avanzando sola, alternando un trabajo mejor remunerado con mis estudios, agradecida por el apoyo de mis donantes.

 My name is Maryoris Mosquera Mosquera, I was born in Barranquilla, of Afro-Colombian parents from the biodiverse department of Chocó in  Colombia.

When I was little, my parents, my 5 siblings and I had to flee from Barranquilla to Bogotá the capital  as displaced persons, and as a result of the violence and threats to my father who worked in the National Police.

Since then, we have become VICTIMS of the Colombian internal armed conflict, being not only discriminated against for being Afro, but also for having been “labeled”  as one more victim in the government bureaucracy registry, forcing me and my family to overcome all sort of adversities.

However, I have a kind and empathic personality, and despite my past history I am very optimistic, also I believe in myself and my own potential as a woman and nothing is going to stop me to make a new history.

So far, I have been able to finish my high school and technical studies and to work in the call center BPO industry in Colombia, in order to build my carrear with determination.

This year, in the midst of the pandemic, I managed to enroll in the Andean Area University Foundation in the industrial engineering professional academic program, alternating my work with virtual classes.

I finished this first semester with the best grades in my class and this new university experience has opened up new horizons and given me new insights to become a good engenier and hopefully a citizen of the  world.

 I have also proofed my self that I have all the personal and professional skills to finish my career with great success. Unfortunately, continuing my studies with a relatively low salary and supporting myself on my own simply makes it very difficult for me to continue my studies. For this reason, I launch this fundraising campaign to all those people who not only believe in the potential of women, Afro in particular, but who see people like me and my story, not as victims trapped by violence and by the indeference of government institutions that do not want to compensate us.

So your donations to my campaign could make a big difference and  contribute to achive higher education levels for  people like me who are willing to be agents of change that can contribute to the transformation of the social fabric in countries like Colombia.

 My semester has a value of COP $ 3,600,000 pesos (US $ 1,000) which, including other maintenance, books and transportation costs, amounts to COP $ 5 million (US $ 1,500).

 In that sense, my goal for this year is to obtain 15 million pesos, around US$5,000.

 I am convinced that by achieving my goal and being able to enroll before the end of 2020 I will be able to continue advancing alone, alternating a better paid job with my studies,thanks to the enthusiastic  support of my donors.
