Friends, a long-time friend of ours, Marukel and her 11 year old daughter will be evicted from their home on December 31st if she's unable to raise $500 to pay three months of rent she owes her landlord.
Marukel lives in Panama and hasn't been able to work for months because of COVID. Marukel was set to start a new job on March 11 but then lockdown started in Panama on March 13. She and her daughter were stranded in Panama City with nowhere to stay and were could not get permission to travel back to their home.
She's cleaned houses to put food on the table, but Panama has 50% to 60% layoffs now. There's just no work to be found!
$10 to $20 is VERY LITTLE to most folks reading this. But it will make ALL THE DIFFERENCE to Marukel and her daughter. They're not living in a nice place. It's a single room w/o even a kitchenette. But it's the only home she and her daughter have. PLEASE don't let these wonderful people be turned out into the streets on New Year's Eve!
