Identity VerifiedAfter losing her father to a heart attack, the animal activist Mônica Sgarbi experienced painful and deep mourning that gave way to a depression that almost took her life. During one of the most severe crises, she remembered that one of the most important lessons her father left her was to never give up and to fight for what she loved.
With that Mônica decided to overcome her grief by giving continuity to a dream that her father and she shared, to rescue abandoned animals and victims of mistreatment, thus was born the Lucélia Animal Protection Project, which brings together a group of people who fight for the cause in the region of Lucélia, a small town in the interior of the state of São Paulo.
The project currently shelters more than 100 animals in temporary homes, offering veterinary treatment, castration, and referring these animals for adoption away from the dangers of the streets and the malice of some humans
