Help provide reusable Sanitary Towels to Girls in Uganda

I am Juliet, the Executive Director of Girls of Significance Initiative that aims at addressing the prevailing challenges of the girl child and currently Covid 19 effects.

The above picture was taken while sensitizing girls about menstrual health in kamuge village, Pallisa district.

In one of our menstrual health education sessions, it was shocking to discover that some rural girls use old pieces of clothe, papers, leaves during their menstrual periods. A condition that has caused them to miss classes causing poor performance in School.

Because of this, we felt led to help the poor rural girl child in Eastern Uganda who can't afford to buy Sanitary towels.

Alongside this we shall also train the rural girls to make their own reusable sanitary towels, conduct guidance and counseling sessions to mitigate dropping out of school and early marriages.

The above picture was taken in Moroto district. Most girls here face a big challenge during their menstruation periods due to lack of sanitary towels.

We intend to use the $ 1500 in the following ways:

We shall provide 108 girls in Eastern Uganda with reusable sanitary towels that they will use for one year, 3 under garments and washing detergents per girl child which will cost $ 13.8.

This will lead to a total of $ 1500.

We need the funds by June, 30th, 2021.

In the above picture, we distributed reusable sanitary towels to 108 girls in kamuge, Pallisa district 2019.
