Fundraising for Food Banks

Hello everyone,

When the conditional movement control order (CMCO) for Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya was announced, many rushed to the stores to stock up on food. We went home with trolley-loads of supplies to last weeks. Yet there was a large number of people unable to do this – those in the B40 group who have been the hardest hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The pandemic has left many people struggling to meet day-to-day expenses

The economic slowdown and resulting loss of jobs has affected the livelihoods of many poor families. They are finding it harder to put food on the table, let alone good quality, nutritious food. With members of many lower-income families losing their sole source of income, the pandemic has left many people struggling to meet day-to-day expenses.

Due to the economic slowdown, we are planning to help out the poor by providing them with food, grocery and medication. We have selected two non-profitable organization to help.

The RUMAH KASIH Charity Home

The first is Rumah Kasih Charity Home. Rumah Kasih Hospital Kuala Lumpur, one of the subsidiary services of Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) established in Sept 2000, is a charity home that takes care of the poor, old, homeless, terminally ill and helpless patients that are abandoned in the hospital (Pesakit Terdampar di Hospital). The have requested donations to purchase medication in their facilities.

The TONG SIM Senior Citizens Care Center

The second organization we are looking to help out is Tong Sim Senior Citizens Care Center. Tong Sim Senior Citizens care center looks after senior citizens who were left behind at hospitals with nowhere to go. There are currently 80 people in the center and they have requested Dettol, Clorox, soya sauce, milk, Maggie noodle, rubbish bag, milo and Nescafe.
