Book tribute to Colombian veterans in the Korean War

Who am I?

My name is Luis Hemel López Ortega, "Veteran of the Public Forces of Colombia" (law 1979 of 2019 signed by the Presidency of the Republic), having worked for 30 years in the Armed Forces of my country, where I reached the rank of sergeant major, and today I enjoy a pension granted to me by the Colombian State. I intend to recognize the heroism of my predecessors, who in the representation of the homeland were risking their lives in the Korean War between 1951 and 1954. Brave soldiers who, without any intention of economic retribution, abandoned their homeland, their families, their comforts and went to distant lands to leave the good name of our Republic on high for a just cause, which was the implementation of democracy, the reestablishment of order and brotherhood between two nations: South Korea and North Korea.

Where do I live?

I live in Colombia, municipality of Cajicá, a town near Bogotá.

What problem do I want to solve?

It is simply a "tribute or homage" to the five thousand Colombian soldiers, who between the years 1951 and 1954 were part of the Colombia Battalion to go to the war that confronted South Korea with North Korea, taking into account that this year marks the 70th anniversary of that great participation of our Colombian heroes; there could be no better recognition than a book with the memories of everything that happened with the Colombia Battalion in Korea, where in 100 pages the facts, anecdotes, experiences (even narrated directly by some of them), photographs, and many other aspects are reviewed.

Why do I need that kind of money?

Expenses of US$700 are estimated, for which we will contract with a Colombian publishing house that will be in charge of the physical production of the copies. It is clarified that NO expenses will be generated by proofreading and editing, which will be in charge of the undersigned author.

When do I need the funds?

To be collected between March 1 and June 15, 2021.

How will the funds raised be used?

Because it is a charitable cause to the memory of the soldiers, the 100 books will be delivered to remain as historical memory and at the same time as permanent academic reference material, thus:
