Let's give a smile to Mati

He is Matias de Jesus Sanchez Tapia, is 6 years old, lives in the municipality of Nicolas Romero, State of Mexico. 

Mati is a carrier of Moebius Syndrome, a disease considered among the 10 rarest, consists of an affectation of cranial nerves VI and VII, its main features are facial paralysis and strabismus as well as small children may have syndactyly, clubfoot, swallowing problems among others.

He has already had several surgical interventions mainly ocular, correction of strabismus, botulinum toxin injections. 

However this is the first type of surgery that will be performed for facial reanimation, cross nerve surgery to perform the reconnection of a functional nerve to the paralyzed area.

The surgery will be performed at the Manuel Gea Gonzalez General Hospital on March 17 by Surgeon Alexander Cardenas.

The expenses for the surgery are covered however we still need resources to cover the operating room use, hospital stay, medications, laboratories and tests prior to surgery, transportation costs, cures.

Matices required this surgery at 4 years of age however due to the pandemic issue it has been delayed for a year and a half.

Yesterday March 06 we were told that there is a place to perform the surgery on the 17th if we can not cover all the necessary expenses we would have to wait about a year and a half more to get an appointment again.
