Rehabilitation for Semyon from Primorsky Krai in Russia

Semyon is 12 years old. When Semyon arrived in Moscow four years ago, his legs were curled up in pretzels, and the boy could only crawl. Now Semyon stands at the Swedish wall, squats and straightens up. “Can you pull yourself up, Semyon?” The nanny asks. And the boy pulls himself up in his arms and looks contentedly: "I can!"

Sema was born premature and weighed less than two kilograms. The boy's mother was not at all interested in the child, she only thought about the next dose. She abandoned her son immediately. The baby was first taken to intensive care, then to the hospital.

Since birth, Semyon has many medical diagnoses, one of them is the equinovarus of the feet. With this diagnosis, the baby is born with malformed legs. And you need to straighten them from the very first days. Usually, in this case, doctors apply splints or soft splints, in case of serious violations, they perform an operation.

It is advisable to have time before the baby is one year old and the bones have not yet hardened. And, of course, all this is impossible without the constant care of an adult - mom, dad, grandmother or any caring adult.

Seeds have never been treated. It is almost 200 km to go to the regional hospital in Vladivostok (Far East). In the boarding school itself, there is no opportunity for the treatment of such diseases. Besides Semyon, more than 400 children live in the Orphanage. Until the doctors of the Road of Life charity foundation saw Semyon during their trip to Primorsky Krai 4 years ago.

In 2017, the boy came to Moscow for treatment ... Over the past three years, Semyon underwent several complex operations in different clinics in Moscow and St. G. N. Speransky No. 9, in 2018-19. at the National Center for Children's Health.

In order for Semyon to learn to walk, he needs to be constantly trained. You need to make sure that he follows all the exercises and prescriptions of doctors. Otherwise, almost two years of medical work will be meaningless. All this work was taken over by the patronage nanny Semyon. She not only cares for the boy, helps him wash and dress, reads books to him and plays with him, she also performs the work of a nurse and an instructor of exercise therapy (physiotherapy exercises). She motivates Semyon, encourages him, praises him when the boy takes a step.

Semyon needs another operation, now on the hip joints. After that, a neurological examination.

Semyon was supposed to go for another treatment at the Scientific Center for Children's Health in the summer of 2020, but the chief doctor of a hospital in a village in the Primorsky Territory, where Semyon lived, refuses to give the boy just one certificate necessary for hospitalization. She demands that at first Semyon be brought to her reception in Partizansk (a city in the Primorsky Territory of Russia), and this is only 8 hours by plane, and even 3-4 hours from the airport to the boarding school. So far, no one can help solve the problem - neither the regional Ministry of Health, nor the regional Ministry of Social Protection. And the sick child continues to wait for such a necessary treatment.

Thanks to the donors of the "Road of Life" fund, a nanny has been with Semyon for the fourth year already. She gives the boy the most important thing - attention, care, constant and timely care. She talks and plays with him. She became that "caring adult" that Semyon never had.

The amount we collect will go to medical tests, hygiene supplies and pay for Semyon's nanny for 2 months.
