Help those without a home.

My husband and I have opened our home to helping home and re-integrate the homeless back into society by giving them a loving home environment, helping them develop the skills they already have within them, find work, and get to the point where they are self-sufficient and no longer living on the street. 

During the last year of lockdown, there were times when we had up to 10 people living under our roof.  We now currently have 3 people staying with us in our home here in Cape Town, South Africa. The cost of feeding, clothing and housing these people is taking a huge toll on us financially, and we are in desperate need of financial help and support. 

Most of the people we help come from a past of either drug or alcohol abuse, due to the circumstances they were in while living on the street. Many of the people living on the street, do not want to be in that situation, and just need a helping hand and guidance in the right direction. 

My hubby was retrenched in December 2019, just before Covid and Lockdown hit South Africa, and are now both unemployed, while we are still helping those that have to come and live with us. We are on the brink of losing our home, as we have been given notice to move out at the end of April 2021 and find ourselves facing the same fate of the very people we are trying to help. 

I used to be one of those people who whenever a homeless person walked past me or came up to me, I would pretend not to see them. Never once stopping to think what they must be thinking and feeling, what happened to them to have them end up in that situation. Did this person really choose that life for themselves? who would give up their home to live on the street? Most of the people on the street NEVER chose that life for themselves, there were circumstances that lead them to be on the street. 

But we can change that... We know that we cant eradicate homelessness altogether, but we can help those that want to be helped and want better for their lives. However, we can't do it alone, we need your help! 

We have started small income-generating projects to help, but it's just not enough for us to get by. We really need your help. We are needing to find another home to move into, where we can continue to help those on the street.
