I’m Cheyenne. My boyfriend Jarrod, his family and I had recently gone through a disastrous house fire that almost completely burnt all their belongings.

The house fire was in USJ 20, the fire started from just a tiny spark of a faulty electrical socket and the sparks reached the clothes of Jarrod’s parents in the room and grew to their bed. The fire got bigger but it wasn’t noticed until the smoke and flame got a little too big and the smell travelled to Jarrod’s room where we were both watching a movie. We thought it was our own socket or ash tray that was burning. We were wrong and quickly reacted by opening the door to look outside and immediately saw a large cloud of black smoke. We both looked out and ran downstairs as fast as we could. Although the fire was pretty big in the master bedroom, it did not stop Jarrod from trying to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher but it wasn’t enough. The fire died a bit but the ambers relit the room and grew even bigger.

After we ran down Jarrod proceeded to grab his mom while I ran to get his dogs. We froze until one of his neighbors screamed for us to leave the premises and call the ambulance but we were all too shaken up to call it on time with proper pronounced words. The firefighters had only arrived after about 20 minutes. By then the whole floor was already engulfed in flames. The roof collapsed, windows shattered, nothing much was retrieved.
