Let's make a Youtube channel teaching journalism to students

Hi!

I'm Edwin Oscar Gutierrez, Jr, a former public high school teacher from the Philippines. You can call me Gucci, as most of my students do. When I took the April 2008 Licensure Exams for Teachers, I ranked 8th nationwide, eventually landing a teaching post in my high school alma mater.

I teach skills in basic journalism

In my high school alma mater, I became a School Paper Adviser, teaching my students skills in basic journalism and sharing with them my life, experiences, values, and trials and tribulations.

I was good at it too, with my kids and I regularly participating in national-level student journalism competitions. In fact, our Department of Education recognized me as one of the Outstanding School Paper Advisers last February of 2018 for my efforts and my students' successes in the annual National Schools Press Conferences in my nine years as a School Paper Adviser.

I want to pass my knowledge about journalism to students

I also suffer from hidradenitis suppurativa, a rare genetic immunodeficiency syndrome that forced me to give up the career that I've loved for more than ten years.

But my love for teaching is still alight in me, and I want to pass on my knowledge by making a Youtube channel where I can share all that I know of student and campus journalism, writing, and anything that high school students will want to know for their studies.

If you look for instructional videos on journalism on Youtube, you won't find a lot of them: with most only giving sparse information. My dream is to make a channel with detailed, comprehensive instructions and information that will teach anyone interested the skills and knowledge they'll need to be able to make journalistic and creative non-fiction articles and content.

With the funds you'll help me raise, I'll be able to gather the equipment and software I'll need to make quality and informative videos for my channel, and give students and people all over the world access to learning resources that they'll otherwise have to pay for in other learning sites. It's my hope that with your help, I'll be able to start this project before the year ends.

On a personal note, this will give my worn and battered soul a sense of purpose again, that I can still be a benefit for world and the people around me. Please, help me help the kids that I miss teaching.
