An appeal for help to restore the consequences of the fire!

Due to the fire which burst out on 10th April 2021 in block 1, Housing Complex Hipodruma, Sofia City, Bulgaria and the enormous damages from it, we -the people living in it , appeal for help to all citizens of the European Union. After a whole apartment on the 11th floor had burnt down completely in our 14-storey block of flats, two people were taken to the Emergency Hospital “Pirogov”, because one of them lost consciousness from suffocation. One dog died 5 days after throwing itself from the balcony of the burning apartment in attempt to save itself. A lot of material damages were inflicted, except the burnt down flat, in more than 10 flats , part of which were also burnt, the others flooded due to the extinguishing of the fire by the firefighters. The worst thing is that because of the fire one of the concrete bearing slabs of the block of flats, which is between the burnt down flat and the one above it, had collapsed and there are cracks in the other two concrete slabs which may lead to collapse and partial falling of the block of flats. The fasade and the entrance of the block were badly inflicted especially the higher floors where the fire had burst out . The cladding of the block of flats which is from Russe stones was burnt down and fallen partially and miraculously had not killed anyone falling on the sidewalk. There are more such stones from the cladding to fall if they are not secured as soon as possible. We thank God that there were no dead people during the fire but we also pray that there will not be any victims due to the falling of the damaged slabs. I cannot describe to you the misery we are facing! The window frames and the windows of the apartments around the burnt down home, as well as the entrance, were also burnt down and broken. The appeal of all living people in block 1 to the European society is to help us in our struggle to save our lives and flats! The sum of money which we must pay for the reconstruction of the collapsed concrete bearing slab and the other two concrete slabs with cracks is unbearable for us. There are about 50 pensioners living in the block of flats, with very low pensions, as well as young families with small children, who also have very low income. The owner of the burnt down flat cannot cover the costs. Up to now all the inhabitants of the block of flats had gathered the modest sum of money 3500 BGN for cleaning of the burnt down flat. We continue gathering more moneyfor the reconstruction of the collapsed bearing concrete slab but we cannot manage to do it alone. We want to save our homes and lives! We will be extremely grateful for any help at this such difficult moment for us. We believe in the kindness, compassion and empathy of all people! We heartily thank for any help provided to us!
