Help Mom Hear

Hello world!

That's me and my mom in the photo. I am her big baby. My wonderful mom takes care of me always, in all aspects. Like all moms do. Now, it's my turn to take care of her. My mom is in her 60's now... but still working as a teacher/guidance counselor in our town's high school. She's just so passionate about sharing her knowledge and providing guidance to those who need them.

How her hearing slowly declined

We live in a remote area in the Philippines. The region is called Bicol. It's famous for coconuts, beaches, and friendly locals.

When my mom was 6 years old, she fell into a well. She didn't know how to swim, so she struggled to keep afloat, she pretty much was drowning... and water entered her nose, her ears, and mouth. She screamed for help until my late grandfather found her. Since that day, her ears were infected with the bacteria-infected water and her hearing slowly declined. It has now been 57 years since. She finally got a hearing aid in 2019. Yeah, it took forever to get her hearing aids. That helped for sometime, but now her hearing is extremely bad. Her eardrums are pretty much non-existent and needs an artificial eardrum surgery.

Let's help her in her fight

My mom loves to play the piano, watch soaps and singing competitions, and tell stories that make people laugh. Without her ability to hear, she can't really do any of those. All I want is to see her smile by being able to do what she loves.

I myself am diagnosed with a lot of disorders and was pretty much non-functional for the last 2 years. But even with that, I never asked for financial help. I am actually really shy to ask for help, but this time, it's my mom that needs help. So I will set aside my shyness so that I can help her as much as I can. In addition, I am also personally saving up for her operation.

The amount I put for fundraising is $1,147 USD. But we actually need $10,300 USD for her operation. I only put 1,147USD because I don't think it's good to just sit and wait for all $10,300 USD. My mom and I are both saving up. But yeah, $1,147 USD will immensely help.

Her operation can be scheduled anytime, but it has to be as soon as possible. So, whenever the funds are complete, we will have her operation arranged.

PS. In the cover photo, you see her beautiful smiling face with boxing gloves...she is a fighter. An adorable one.
