Story
Hello everyone,
Dream House Uganda is a registered charity organization which works with youth, women. elderly, disabled and children of different backgrounds regardless of religion, tribe and provides activities, coaching, support and school fee sponsorship program for disadvantaged children in the community.
According to Uganda survey, a population of people with disability aged 2 years above stands at 12.4%. And they are one of the vulnerable groups of the population living in Uganda and face numerous challenges. Among the major rights violations are sex abuse, discrimination in service delivery, stigmatization from the wider community, discrimination in employment and business opportunity.

In the eastern part of Uganda Mbale Namatala slums, over 17 people live with disabilities, of which most are neither collage nor university graduates and have no hands on skills, no businesses and not credit worthy, this means no money, no food, no medicine - nothing. This has seen them end up stark in a circle of poverty and forced to live with no food or less than $1 a day. Evenmore, most of them are unemployed, and have to move a distance of at least 8 km to the city to beg for food staff or money from shops and strangers.
The second wave of COVID-19 has hit Uganda hard. With the increased rates of the COVID-19 patients and death in the country, this has called for the second lockdown of the nation. Despite being disabled, the total lockdown was imposed with no source of income nor welfare support directed to the disabled people. This has made their life extraordinarily hard living them isolated and struggling to survive. The vulnerable has seen themselves go a day or days without a meal or have one meal a day.
However Dream House Uganda has organized this fundraiser to raise funds and give food Supplies to the disabled people/families.
With your support, we are determine to fight for these families, by raising $1,500 USD to pay for food and nutrition supplies for 17 families during the 42 days of lockdown. So they can stay home and avoid the risks of getting infected or probably lose lives. AREA OF EMPHASIS – Mbale (Namatala slums)
