Support Carol in her fight with Stage 4 Lung Cancer

Hello everyone,

This is the story of my mom, Carol. She is a cancer survivor who has been battling her second cancer, Stage IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), for 5 years now.

Our goal is to raise money to support additional costs of treatment in hopes to prolong my mom’s life and provide the best care for her remaining days. The funds will be used for medical treatments, nutrition, and quality-of-life supplies including special milk powder designed to help cancer patients gain weight and increase energy whilst being on treatment.

Mum has been our main financial priority for a long while - we are doing our best :(

To date, we have spent RM 326,790 on mom’s treatment, which is no longer covered under insurance as it was exhausted during her first cancer back in 2000. With her latest diagnosis, we will need RM 44,000 per month to proceed with the suggested course of treatment which is to take on an additional targeted therapy to treat the additional mutation. The cost of treatments has taken a toll on the family, as we have used up all available funds including personal savings, our parent’s retirement funds, and extra money given kindly by our family and friends.

Right now, the family income is solely from myself and my brother, we are both in our 20s who just entered the workforce and are struggling to make ends meet while also providing for our father who is partially immobilized after his third stroke.

Mum is a hero for making it so far, may she continue to inspire many with her life.

Several doctors confirmed that patients suffering from Stage IV NSCLC only have 2 to 5 years to live with no chances of recovery. Stepping into her fifth year battling cancer, my mom is blessed not to experience any severe pain. She starts her day by walking 10,000 steps inside the house. She keeps herself occupied by preparing her own meals and cleaning the house. She has no difficulties taking care of herself. She enjoys listening to music and catching up on TV series. It brings great joy seeing her lead a relatively normal life despite cohabiting with stage IV cancer. Her emotions are rather unstable and she requires constant reminders and positive energy and support from her family and friends.

We are tired :( we need help :(

It has been emotionally and mentally challenging to care for and support my mom being a cancer patient twice in her lifetime. While juggling to provide her comfort, reassurance, and positivity, sometimes I fall into a blackhole of sorrows and darkest thoughts of having to witness her suffer when no painkiller or morphine can relieve the pain anymore and eventually losing her to cancer. Growing up, we put many plans on hold to prioritize mom and her treatments. Every milestone, no matter how small, is worthy of a celebration. Each day is welcomed like our last day together. We strive to provide the best quality of life to her in her remaining days, months, and hopefully years to come.

We are humbly asking for your help. Please help us to help our mother in supporting her medical care. We need your support, no matter the amount, to give my mom hope for more days to celebrate and the best quality of life in her remaining days.
