Danielle's Battle with Covid & Its Complications

"Help me. I can't breathe. Don't leave"

Danielle recently came home last June 5, 2021 for a much needed break. As the pandemic became more serious, Danielle's mental health suffered to the point that she just wanted to give up and go home to her family. It wasn't until long that she got sick with severe COVID and she had to be hospitalized.

Danielle was hospitalized twice. During the first hospitalization, she was diagnosed with Severe Covid, she was almost intubated. She underwent 4 sessions of Hemoperfusion, and was prescribed multiple antibiotics and medicine such as Remdesivir and Tocilizumab. After spending 20 days in the hospital, she was discharged.

Unfortunately, her joy was short lived. Three days after her discharge, she started feeling ill again -- fever, chills, burning sensation in her lungs, and the hauntingly familiar need for more oxygen support. Eventually, she had to be brought to the hospital again. Danielle was confined for the second time last August 3. Danielle's oxygen saturation levels were not improving. During her stay in the COVID ICU, she had 4 separate near death experiences, due to her almost running out of oxygen. Eventually they had to put her on a non-invasive ventilator that will give her oxygen support, plus to help with her obstructive sleep apnea.

After being in the COVID ICU for one week, she was sent to the Clean ICU where she gradually improved and weaned off high oxygen support. However, she was faced with a new problem: Fibrosis had started to form in her lungs and the only way to cure it was to purchase Nintedanib, a medication for Fibrosis which costs about 100,000 PHP per box This 100,000 PHP medicine will only last for a month or a half.

With Danielle only recently quitting her job to focus on her mental health, and her mother being retired, it has been very difficult for the family to fund all of the hospital bills.

Danielle's mother is trying to pay their hospital bills little by little through help from close friends, savings, and God's provision.

However both hospital bills cost around 1,000,000 PHP each, amounting to a total of more than 2,000,000 PHP, and the remaining balance that they have to pay is still very steep.
