Kevin’s Battle Against COVID-19 Amid the Loss of his Twin

This virus is NO joke.

Just recently, we were all disheartened by the passing of our friend and co-servant in the Lord, Deacon Kenneth D. Dugay, who battled silently against COVID-19 and went home to the Lord last August 29, 2021.

It is very alarming that his twin brother, Kevin D. Dugay, started manifesting COVID-19 symptoms too last August 30, 2021. After few days, his oxygen saturation plunged to worryingly low levels and he had difficulty breathing, prompting his doctor to recommend hospital confinement. But with the frustratingly long waitlist for hospital rooms in Santa Rosa City and nearby towns, he was initially given home care where his doctor prescribed a battery of laboratory tests and several intravenous medications, including Remdesivir, which cost a total of more than P70,000.

Despite this, Kevin’s condition did not improve. It took 2 days to finally get a slot in a hospital. Kevin’s family and close friends didn’t have second thoughts on whether it’s a private or public hospital since saving Kevin’s life is the ultimate priority.

As of this moment, he is admitted at the Unihealth Southwoods Hospital at Biñan, Laguna. He had undergone some laboratory tests and was given medicines which helped improve his condition. He also needs to undergo 4 sessions of hemoperfusion, a kind of dialysis that unclogs blood clots in the lungs and common COVID-19 treatment, which costs P42,000 per session. On top of this, the daily hospital charges have reached almost P100,000.00.

Kevin’s funds have already been exhausted with all these expenses.

We, as his brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, wanted to help him by all means possible to save his life. We’ve lost Kenneth—we can’t bear to lose his twin brother, Kevin.

We believe that there’s no impossible situation when we offer our struggles to the Lord.

Kevin's Profile

Mr. Kevin D. Dugay is a 27-year-old College Instructor in the Engineering Department of Malayan Colleges Laguna. Though a graduate and a Registered Electrical Engineer, it has always been his passion to teach and impart his knowledge to future engineers.

As an alumnus and an absorbed faculty at MCL, he's seen a lot of potential by the administration and has entrusted him with different leadership positions. Aside from being a full-time MCL faculty, he's also been assigned as the Club Adviser of Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers - Malayan Colleges Laguna Student Chapter for 6 years now, and the current club adviser of MITL Student Council.

Apart from his professional life, he used to be serving in the Lord’s ministry as a bassist in the Praise and Worship Team and a member of the Multimedia Ministry of Caingin Christian Church Inc.

He is a go-to and literally a "one call away" type of friend. Someone who is very reliable and who will not hesitate to lend a helping hand whenever you need it.
