Please help saving Robin Panda's life

Who we are?

Robin Panda is a 4 y.o. male cat. He was an affectionate, playful and adorable 6 weeks old boy when I found him all alone at a park in Istanbul. After I pet him for some time, he didn't want to go and followed me home. Since then, he became my son and we lived happly till June'20. 

What happened to Robin Panda?

Our nightmare began with loss of apetite, licking concrete and loss of weight. I took him to the vet immediately and the diagnose was jaundice. He got the treatment and healed. At least, this is what I thought. Then he relapsed again and again. On 31st of December 2020, he was severely anemic that he needed blood transfusion. And the vet was not able to tell me what causes his anemia. Following 2 months passed with talking to many vets and searching. And finally I learnt he has IMHA. 

What is IMHA? 

IMHA is an immune system disorder which can be healed completely. But it's also fatal if not treated properly and the treatment is very challenging. Basically, Robin Panda's immun system attacks his own red blood cells as if they're virus or bacterias. At the end, red blood cells are destroyed and this cause anemia, sometimes very severe that may cause death. There are several immunosuppresants used to treat IMHA, but regular CBC test has to be done (every 2 weeks) and the dosage has to be adjusted by the vet. 

Sometimes, red blood cell distruction is so fast that a blood transfusion needed until the meds work their magic. For example, Robin Panda got a 2nd blood transfusion at 12th of November 2021 because the meds were not working anymore.

Fighting IMHA is like a rollercoaster. Sometimes, he responds to meds and his blood level increases but sometimes (very often in the last couple of months) he relapses. All we try to do is, trying to get response to immunosuppresants and to taper off the dosage smoothly. In this way, we can save his life and give him a happy, healty life, which is highly possible. And he so deserves this as a lovely, innocent boy who only wants to live and play.

Why are we here?

When the IMHA first diagnosed I did not think that the treatment will cost a lot. But in time, when he relapsed few times, the cost of treatment got higher and higher. I managed it with my income and with the help of my family till now. The treatment includes: 

- Vet visit and CBC (every 2 weeks, sometimes more often if the blood level is too low)

- Biochemistry tests (every 4 months, sometimes more often depending on his physical condition)

-  Ultrasound and additional diagnostic tests (done only for once, thankfully)

- Urine test whenever necessary

- Blood transfusion whenever necessary (done twice till now and we don't know how many times he'll need it)

- Meds (immunosuppresants, liver protections and stomach protections)

- Removing the spleen

I did my best to cover all these costs till now but am not able to pay for the treatment cost anymore because I am unemployed but I don't want to give up fighting. 

Because, my boy Robin Panda wants to fight. He fights like a hero with this disease and I have to do my best to help him.

So, would you join the rollercoaster of Robin Panda and help him in his fight against IMHA?
