I'm Lia, the mother of Birendra. Birendra is currently on trial for cerebral palsy and deafness.

When Birendra was 4 days old, Birendra experienced hyperbilirubinemia and his body temperature reached 32 which caused Birendra's brain to be poisoned and led to seizures. At that time, my mother immediately took Birendra to the Asih hospital and was treated there for 4 days. After returning from the hospital, my mother saw how different Birendra's movements were. The eyes often glance to the side, the movement is a bit stiff, and the neck is always turned to the side and can't be straight forward like other children.

Month after month, Mommy pays attention to why this mama's child can't do anything. Could it be slow progress? Finally, Mama took Birendra to the RSCM and met a neurologist. After undergoing all kinds of tests such as EEG and MRI, Birendra was sentenced to cerebral palsy. He had joined physiotherapy at the age of 6 months but stopped because of the cost.

Birendra is currently unable to sit and walk like other children. Birendra's neck and back are still very weak, hands are always bent and gripped, can't reach toys, hold food, and Birendra can't hear clearly either. Birendra didn't want to turn around when he was called, couldn't understand what his mom and dad were talking about. Currently Birendra is almost 2 years old but Birendra can't say a single word yet. The doctor suggested to join speech therapy but Birendra must have a hearing aid first, and Hearing Aids are very expensive. For one ear only 45 million rupiah. Therefore Birendra has not been able to enter speech therapy classes.

Because Birendra's condition was getting worse, at the age of 1.8, Mom forced him to send Birendra to another physiotherapy class in Hermina Bekasi. Before entering the therapy class, Birendra was asked to do all kinds of tests, such as EEG and BERA. After the results came out from both of them, what a surprise this mother was, because Birendra was sentenced to be deaf or unable to hear. One problem is not over yet, another problem comes. Mama is very sad like tomorrow there is no life anymore for Mama. The child that mom has been dreaming of until waiting for 2.5 years has many shortcomings. Currently Birendra is undergoing physiotherapy and seizure therapy. It should have been accompanied by speech therapy because at the age of 2 years, Birendra has not been able to utter a single word. Because Birendra could not hear, Birendra was asked to have a hearing aid first, because the equipment was very expensive, one device was 45 million rupiah while Birendra had to buy a pair which was worth 90 million. For hearing aids, I can't afford to buy hearing aids, so I'm delaying speech therapy until I can afford to buy hearing aids. Currently Birendra can't hear clearly, Birendra doesn't want to turn around when called, can't understand what his mom and dad are talking about, can't say a single word, because Birendra also has difficulty swallowing. The ENT doctor suggested Birendra for a throat endoscopy, and after that nothing else or what to do for treatment. Currently Birendra when fed food, his neck immediately turned to the right to swallow. Oh God, mommy sees how much this mama's child suffers.

When Birendra was born, the whole family was happy, especially the grandparents, every morning after taking a bath they were always looked for, carried, before going to bed at night they were always looked for.

But after receiving the verdict at the age of 4 months, everything changed. We all panicked looking for treatment everywhere: Kalimantan, Bangka, Banten, Bandung and all to no avail. In the past, Birendra's father was still working even though the results were mediocre, so he could still get treatment here and there. But since grandfather was sick and there was no one to take care of him, Papa Birendra had to stop working and take care of grandfather. Birendra is only surrounded by family, no one else is close to Birendra.

Every time he saw other children playing he just looked and laughed happily, but he could never join in playing. So sad to see her, Mama rarely took Birendra out, only inside with the family.

Our situation seems to be very, very difficult. We are really cornered, one must be sacrificed, between parents and child. Here, Birendra is the one who must be sacrificed. Papa stopped working to take care of his parents. We are now living in our parents' house. This is a very difficult position for my mother, because my father is no longer working. In the end, it was my mother who worked to buy milk and other vitamins for Birendra. Mama's salary is only 2 million rupiah per month. Mama works as an online shop admin belonging to her aunt Birendra. Because mom is only an admin so it can be done at home, this job is also not very easy to do. One side has to take care of the house, take care of Birendra, help take care of sick parents, Birendra's grandfather has a brain tumor, and also has a stroke, just lying weakly in bed, sometimes Birendra is neglected

I don't know how much it costs Birendra. From the cost of a pair of hearing aids alone, 90 million rupiah, physiotherapy costs around 1.800.000 x 3 years, the cost of vitamin D3 seizure therapy drugs and fish oil is approximately 1,000,000, not to mention having to enter speech therapy costs 1,800,000 x until you can talk, let's say 1 year already how many tens of millions we have to spend, plus Birendra has a problem in his throat he has difficulty swallowing. The ENT doctor suggested endoscopy but we haven't done it yet because endoscopy costs can reach 2.5 million-5 million

Birendra is in dire need of hearing aids, at the age of almost 2 years Birendra can't say a word, he can't learn language and speak because Birendra can't hear, we are very worried that when he grows up Birendra will be mute. Birendra's seizures must also be treated so that Birendra's brain condition does not decline, and Birendra has to be independent in doing his daily work without the help of others, because what if papa mama is no longer around, who will take care of Birendra if Birendra is not independent.
