Pero ang isa sa pinakakinakatakutan ko ay nangyayari ngayon. (But one of the many things that I fear is happening now.) My eldest sister, Maica Ricafort, is currently admitted in the ICU. She is fighting against MIS-A (MultiSystem Inflammatory Syndrome), an acute, rare disease that affects multiple organs in her body.

Her doctors told us that she might have contracted asymptomatic COVID-19 and this condition was a side effect or complication.

Mahirap, nakakatakot at higit sa lahat nakakapanghina makita ang mahal mo sa buhay na nasasaktan at nahihirapan. Pero gaya ng pagkakakilala ng maraming tao kay ate, she is a fighter.

Lumalaban siya. (I kid you not - there is nothing more painful than to see your loved ones suffer and endure so much pain. But people who know her knows that she is a fighter.).

I remember her being one of the strongholds of our family. Always hopeful, always there to guide us - especially to his only son, Matteo- her source of joy, inspiration, and strength. I don't know what will happen. I will lie if I say that fear is not gripping me by the minute. While her doctors are treating her complications by day and give them my full trust, that almost crippling fear is taking a toll on me.

Despite all these, I still choose to believe in Him and His miracles through the power of your prayers. We are knocking to your kind hearts to continuously pray for my ate’s healing and recovery as she face this all alone in the ICU (Due to COVID-19 protocols in the Philippines, I am only allowed to visit her twice a day, 30minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening). Apart from this, may we also seek your help for financial assistance. As of writing, our current bill is already at over Php 1Million (almost at USD 19,000).

Please also include me in your prayers as I need to secure a negative RTPCR every 3 days so I can see her. It costs at around PHP 3,000 for every test (USD 58). Nakikita kong lumalakas ang ate pagnakikita n'ya ako. Pero ang totoo, mas masaya at lumalakas ako pag nakikita at nakakasama ko sya. (Ate Maica fights and becomes stronger when she sees me. And I become stronger when I am with her.)
