Help to raise funds to build a library corner for orphanages

We need you, and they need us!

Hello everyone, we are a group of young people living in Selangor, Malaysia. We are young people who love reading, because we all have a belief that reading can change a person's life and reading does change our lives.

At the same time, we like to help those in need, especially those who have lost their families. We usually visit orphanages and welfare centers all over Selangor. 

We will find out what they needs such as foods or clothes, and we will do our best to help them with that.

During the covid-19 epidemic, we have visited The Pure Life Society in Selangor, Malaysia. Then, we interview the person in charge what they really need for help.

We found that in addition to the orphans' food and clothing issues that society often pays attention to, their educational opportunities, educational levels and quality issues have been neglected by society for a long time.

During pandemic, children can't get to school and the teachers are teaching by online, some of the orphans can't even attend to the online class.

Pure Life Society, the place we mentioned and visited have 2 different wings. The main wing which the junior children (girls and boys from 7 to 12)  and senior girls (13 to 17) are placed. 

They have a library and the reading corners (donated by some well-wishers years ago) at the main wing. There are not many books, and not suitable for their age.

The boy's wing is situated about 1 km away and has senior boys aged 13 to 17 years. The boy's wing don't even have a proper library or reading corner there. The boys will sleep and spend most of their time there. 

'We recently asked our woodwork skills trainer to do a few bookshelves but the room needs to be painted, with enough lighting and to be equipped with sufficient and suitable books for the boys. Since the donation has been very very low for the past few years, we are very careful with our spending.' said by the person in charge.

In Malaysia, the lack of resources for orphans and the lack of financial resources have resulted in the school supplies for orphans being limited to the rigid requirements of the school. 

They lack of educational resources and cannot obtain more reading resources.

We believe that reading is the first step that can change their lives. We want to make books accessible to everyone, thereby spreading the joy and benefits of reading.

Reading allows orphans to broaden their horizons, to understand and explore places that they cannot go to in reality, and to experience a different life. 

They don't have a chance to choose to be better.

We want to help them.

Build a mini library for them, create a well-equipped reading corner that have much books, stationery, equipment and etc.
