Raising funds to be able to continue my Chemotherapy

Greetings!

My name is John Marlon P. Tadena, 49 years old, presently residing at Davao City, Philippines, & this is my story. I’m a displaced cruise-ship seafarer, I was onboard from Jan. 2020, & sent home last May 2020, due to the Global Health Crisis – Covid19.

The entire family members experienced a lot of hardships physically, mentally, boredom especially financial aspects brought by this global pandemic.

The Cancer cells

End of August 2021, I received a phone call from my fleet Manager instructing me to undergo full medical examinations for possible sea deployment that’s made me happy & excited. Which I immediately complied with. Unfortunately, the company’s diagnostic center incidentally found new growth on the right upper lobe of my lung thru my x-ray & required me to have a Contrast-Enhanced CT scan of the chest. My wife & I immediately seek professional advice from an Internal Medicine – Adult Pulmonary Doctor.

Sept. 2021, I underwent a CT scan with medical impressions of Anterior Mediastinal mass with Calcification. My Doctor explained all the details of the CT scan & possible medical intervention. My Doctor also mentioned that mediastinal tumors are rare but, due to their locations they can be serious & can cause death but can be treated through Surgery & Chemotherapy. She also uttered that if I don’t like to have further medical interventions I might live within 5 years. My Pulmonologist suggested I need to undergo Biopsy to know if the tumor is malignant or not.

As my Doctor explained everything, my wife started crying, she remembered her sisters who survived & 2 other sisters who died from cancer. I know we will need a huge amount of money for my treatment which I don’t know from where to get. When we reach home I talked to my wife & told her since we don’t have any siblings, I don’t want to undergo any further medical interventions & I’m willing to wait for 5 years as long as we are together. My wife didn’t agree & continuously cried & got angry with me. She said we will find a way to look for money, despite more than a year without income.

We borrowed money from my brother-in-law, nephew & closest friends onboard & abroad, I sold our car & pieces of jewelry for the said medical intervention.

October 2021, I underwent Post CT Guided Percutaneous Core-Biopsy of Anterior Mediastinal Mass at Brokenshire Integrated Ministries, Inc.

The result of my Core-Biopsy was Thymoma B2 that needs (tumor) to be removed through surgery. We were endorsed to a Thoracic Surgeon & were advised to prepare Php 250.000.00 for the said medical procedures. I underwent Right Posterolateral Thoracotomy, Enbloc Resection of Thymoma, (with Pericardium) CTT, Sub-cut drain & was discharged after 9 days at San Pedro Hospital, Davao City to lessen hospital bills. The surgery took more than 7 hours. The removed tumor was sent for biopsy & the final Histopathology was Seminoma (germ cell tumor).

I was endorsed to an Oncologist & required Testes ultrasound & an enhanced CT. I brought the result to my Oncologist, & who told me that I still need to undergo adjuvant chemotherapy due to high-risk features. We tried to look again for a public hospital to have cheaper hospital bills but still, it is not possible due to Covid-19 cases. My wife & I decided to have my 1st Chemotherapy at Davao Doctors Hospital last Dec. 13-17, 2021, hoping that Southern Philippines Mindanao Center will be opened & can cater to walk-in patients. After the Christmas seasons, we were able to sustain my 2nd Chemotherapy from Jan 05-09, 12 &19, 2022.

With God’s grace, I’m on my 3rd Chemotherapy & in progress. With the help of our Dear Lord & to all the people whom He used to help us with this crisis, especially my wife, my family members, my in-laws, friends, friends of friends, who have responded & continuously prayed & sent financial supports, I was able to have Core-biopsy, Surgery, 2 enhanced CT-Scans, 2 ultrasounds & Chemotherapy, including numerous overwhelming hospital bills, blood tests, medications & workups.

Please help me finish my Chemotherapy

The contributed & collected money is almost exhausted & depleted, I’m afraid that I might not be able to continue my remaining Chemotherapy. I don’t know where to get the needed money to finance my medical expenses. One of our nieces introduces the Airfunding platform which can help us in my upcoming & remaining Chemotherapy. I personally & humbly appeal to you, to please help me finish my Chemotherapy, & other medical interventions that my doctor will require me. The support that you will be sending in any amount is eternally grateful & highly appreciated & it will be used to finance the said Chemotherapy. I'm knocking on your generous heart to help & allow me to survive from this sickness, to be salt & light to others.
