Story
Hello everyone,
Have you ever experienced hearing the worst news of your life with the one person who don't deserve to hear it and bear the pain with you? Being comforted by the person whom you should be comforting? Being strong and choosing to be strong for the very persons you cling life to?
God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, or sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.
The light became dark when the dreadful day came.
I am Police Executive Master Sergeant Rovilita Cobar Bitos. I live in Calamba, a 4th class municipality in the Province of Misamis Occidental, Philippines. I am a single mother of two (2) adorable sons (separated from my husband for 10 years now), provider for my two (2) young nephews (whom I sent to high school), bread winner (my mother lives with me when she became a widow), public servant (police officer for 19 years, turning 20 on December 16, 2022).
On the 2nd week of April 2021, I felt a lump in my right breast. Worried and anxious as what might it be, I went to see a doctor. I was scheduled to go back 2 weeks after, that is, 1st week of May 2021, to undergo a core needle biopsy. After 1 month and 1 week, my son and I went back to the doctor. Waiting at the doctor's clinic, trying to get enough strength for what the result might be, composing myself, praying silently. Then, the doctor broke the news -- Stage 2 Breast Cancer.
For a moment, I felt being numb, emotionless. But then I snapped. I am a mother. I have 2 sons. Life must keep rolling. It was the comforting words of my son which kept me going. God indeed promises strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.
The treatment started last July 2021. My right breast was removed. Undergoing Modified Radical Mastectomy and Six (6) Sessions of Chemotherapy. Now, I am taking my Oral Medications.
In order to win this battle of life, I am knocking on your kind hearts to share your spare. With a positive mind, I know there's still hope. I am grateful I am still alive. Fighting.
As Maya Angelou once said, "If you must look back, do so forgivingly. If you must look forward, do so prayerfully. However, the wisest thing you can do is be present in the present. Gratefully."
I would be happy if you could use the [Help by sharing] to share my project!
