Story
Jayce Rita underwent IV Chemotherapy once a week for a year and two months immediately after her discharge last April 2020 to treat her condition called Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH). In LCH, extra Langerhans cells spread through the blood and build up in certain parts of the body, where they can damage tissue or form tumors.
On the 14th month of the IV Chemotherapy, the Doctor decided to stop the procedure justifying the normalization of Jayce's blood (CBC) and the halted growth of her Diabetes Insipidus (DI, which can be LCH's first manifestation). But after only weeks since the last IV Chemotherapy, we notice Jayce's head having a puss-filled sore in her scalp.
When we visited Jayce's Endocrinology Doctor, He immediately noticed that her weight and height had little to no progress. The growth factor is very slow. Jayce is a 5-year-old child with a bone age of a 3-year-old. Which explains her difficulty in balancing and speaking even at the age of five. So now Jayce also have her new treatment to balance her growth, up to her age, aside from her maintenance. The conclusion? the LCH did not subside. On top of her Diabetes Insipidus, LCH is now stunting the growth of our dear Jayce Rita.
Jayce will be scheduled two procedures of chemotherapy (IV Push and Direct injection to the fats) will be needed every two weeks for 3 months. After three months an MRI will be done to check the effectiveness (or lack thereof) of the medicines. If the medicines are effective, the Chemo will continue for 6 months and will have her maintenance once a month for 1 year.
Considering that we have lack of money to support her needs of medication and laboratory. Being able to sustain the IV Chemotherapy for the last year and 2 months is nothing short of a miracle. Despite only having my husband working, we were blessed with a loving family, friends, and donors who are generous enough to help us alleviate some of the burdens of our financial problems.
But We continue to knock on your heart dear reader, the new prescribed medicines and hospitalization bills are starting to pile up and we really need all the help we can get. No amount is too small. No help too insignificant.
In this life, we all have crosses to bear, with some heavier than others. In this season of lent, we humbly knock on your generous hearts to lend a hand in helping Jayce Rita B. Gabato lighten her cross even a little bit by donating any amount that your heart allows.
As Pope Francis said: " For life is a gift we receive only when we give ourselves away, and our deepest joy comes from saying yes to love, without ifs and buts."
I would be happy if you could use the [Help by sharing] button to share about my project!
