my name is Caren Ong Lay Gaik. I'm a Malaysian, living in the state of Penang. I'm currently a 54 years old kidney failure patient. I was diagnosed in June 2020. While I was admitted in the ICU, the nephrologist confirmed that my kidneys had shrunk and hence, they are unable to function anymore. She put me on dialysis ever since.
Till now, I had done dialysis for around 2 years. Dialysis doesn't come cheap. I've spent all my life savings on dialysis, treatment, medication and surgery to fix a fistula on my arm. I'm unable to work because I'm constantly in poor health. With no more savings, I'm unable to continue my dialysis. As a kidney failure patient, without dialysis, water in the body will accumulate and surround my heart and lungs. Consequently, heart failure can occur and eventually, death.
Dialysis is essential to keep me alive. Therefore, I'm in desperate need of funds to continue dialysis. Any funds collected through this project will be used for dialysis to prolong my life.
