Donations for Eleonor’s Chemotherapy

Dear family and friends,

I hope you’re having a great day! I am Ram Ros, the son of Eleonor Ros and I would like to take this opportunity to ask for your help.

My mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer stage 2 this November. The only way to fight the cancer is to undergo series of Chemotherapy.

Mom has always been the strongest woman I know. She had always remained cheerful and ready to face any challenges we encounter in life full of hope and faith in God. You would never see her doubting God and giving up. Because of that she has always been an inspiration to everyone around her most especially to me and my Dad. She had always been resilient and optimistic in life despite the despairing challenges that we experience.

Two years ago, during the start of the Pandemic where everyone is in the state of fear and uncertainty; I can say it was one of the darkest days of our lives. My Dad and I lost both of our jobs. It is near impossible to live each passing day without financial stability from one of us. Even my sister got stranded here in Manila because of the safety protocols of the government. But despite all the chaos, Mom remained calm and hopeful. She tried cooking and selling meals and frozen goods as a small business just for us to get through every passing day. Without us knowing that was also the start of her greatest battle in life.

Two years after when the rest of the world started to recover and start up their lives again after the Pandemic, Mom began to feel pain. We thought it was just a regular arthritis because of age so we would just buy her pain relievers. She remained positive and jolly as always. She never showed us even a hint of suffering because that’s the way she has always been. She always shows people that she’s happy and positive even though she’s anxious of what may be. I never saw her cry. She has always been the super woman to everyone. Even if she started to develop a lump in her breast she chose to hide it and suffer alone just to spare her family from fear knowing she is sick; and even in her worst condition she chose to rely on herbal medicines alone hoping it will somehow improve her state. She chose to fight her battle alone because even in this hard time she still thinks of other people before herself. She doesn’t want to be a burden to anyone especially to her family.

Days and months passed, Mom’s condition became worse. She had bone pain that was too painful for her to stand up on her own. She couldn’t even sit for a long period of time. She was always lying in bed helpless. I would always see her cry because of extreme pain. But despite what she’s going through she would not get upset because of her pain, instead she would get upset because she could no longer take care of her family. That has always been mom and it’s too painful for me to see my mom cry and suffer. She does not deserve this especially when all she did was to take care of everyone around her, she was so selfless. But despite everything she maintained a strong faith in God.

Until one day we rushed mom to the E.R. her bone pain keeps getting worst. She was very weak and at times it would be hard for her to breathe. We did series of lab tests and all her blood chem appear normal aside from her CT scan that shows she has a problem with her spinal disc. She still continued her herbal medicines and refuses to seek further medical intervention because she was always thinking of the expenses. We always tell mom that we are willing to do anything just to give her the proper medical attention she needs but being mom she would think of others before herself. However, being alone in the house while both me and my dad are working made mom depressed especially considering her condition. So she decided to fly back home to Ozamiz to be with her extended family. I know it would be hard for us not to be with my mom especially we we’re all very close, the three of us. But if this would make mom’s situation improve and if it is for her mental health as well we are very much willing to sacrifice. A few days in the province made mom very happy. We all thought her condition got better. But then again they have to rush mom in the hospital because of extreme pain and weakness. This time mom surrendered everything to God and decided she already wants to seek medical help because she could no longer bear the pain. Series of tests we’re done until we confirmed she has Breast Cancer.

At the moment, mom was done with her first session of Chemotherapy, each session costs Php 18,000. She would need to undergo treatment at least twice a month. They gave us an estimate of all possible expenses in the hospital and they informed us that we need at least Php 300,000.

I am humbly asking for your help so we could continue mom’s chemotherapy. Mom has always been a super women choosing to fight battles alone for her loved ones. This time I want to let her know and make her feel that she is not alone in this fight. Any amount of help will do and please know that it is very much and sincerely appreciated.
