I want to raise funds to publish my first novel

Hello!

My name is María Valdés, I am a writer and I live in Mexico. I have a degree in Hispanic Literature from the University of Guadalajara (UDG).

I've been having trouble raising enough funds to get by and publish my first novel. It is a project in which I have invested the last two years of my life and people who have been able to read it and who work in the field have told me that it has a lot of potential to be successful. But it is very difficult to get a publisher to give me the opportunity since it is my first work.

I have contacted the largest Spanish-speaking publishers and, despite wanting to help me, they are limited by interests. My novel is a psychological mystery and crime thriller of about one hundred pages, for now the most recognized publishers are only interested in adolescent thrillers and my work does not fall into that category. Another aspect is that for the author they only generate a very low percentage of the royalties.

For this reason, I want to self-publish with the Spanish editorial Círculo Rojo, they are in charge of editing, distribution and publicity. It is a publisher of high quality and an excellent reputation. It is my dream to publish with them.

The cost for the print run of 300 copies starts at €1,000 euros, that is why I am looking to raise $1,500 dollars for the publication and other expenses that arise in proofreading. It is difficult for an artist to bet on him and more in a country like Mexico.

Art and culture have always been the compass of my life and I consider it something worth investing in, the world needs artistic sensibility in all its presentations and benefits from it. In the times in which we live, it is of great consolation and helps to know that we are not alone in the adventures and misadventures that are presented to us, literature is an opportunity to explore the mind and the human condition that we are all subject to, the beauty and of sadness too. It opens doors to other worlds and to our own internal worlds. My passion is to communicate and share what I have learned about life and the universe, and I want to share it through my writing.
