Raising funds for 47 furry refugees in my home

My mom and I had some furry friends at home. But when my grandmother arrived due to a broken hip, we started rescuing stray cats and dogs along with her. This served as therapy for my 93-year-old grandmother, who also suffered from Alzheimer's, gonarthrosis, osteoarthritis and hydrocephalus. At the same time, we were saving lives from want. Her presence was important since her financial support was part of the help to keep our furry friends. WE ARE A NON-PROFIT SHELTER WITH 47 FURRY KIDS… We have cats of all breeds, colors, temperaments and illnesses.

We have cats with feline AIDS, a disease that requires constant medication with vitamins to strengthen their defenses and take care of their oral hygiene. This represents a monthly expense of 250,000 Colombian pesos.

We also have cats with kidney problems that require a specific type of food to care for their kidneys. A package every 15 days has a value of 180,000 Colombian pesos. If they are not provided with this food or at least tuna when money is tight, they begin to swell and have difficulty urinating, which can lead to bleeding.

We have our special cat at home, that's what we call her because she is the most spoiled of all. She suffers from anemia and constantly needs medication to strengthen her defenses and keep her hemoglobin level high. This represents a monthly cost of 200,000 Colombian pesos. She is a Persian mix, very shy and tends to get scared if picked up by strangers.

We also have other kitties that suffer from feline colds. A simple climate change can affect them and cause a human-like cold. Therefore, they need medications to strengthen their defenses and prevent the airways from becoming clogged due to the accumulation of mucus caused by the cold.

My daughters also love our furry friends. People worry about their health, but I want to assure you that there is no need to worry too much as long as we maintain the health of our furry ones. We have a total of 40 cats and 7 dogs, all of them were rescued from the street, none were adopted from a vet or purchased. Here we don't care about their race or their condition, what matters is offering them help and protection to give them a second chance at a dignified life.

We also have a cat that lives on our roof. We respect your decision to enter the house and want to live on the roof. We provide him with water, food, a place to sleep and we used to have a big umbrella for him, but bad weather damaged it and we still haven't been able to replace it due to its high cost for our budget.

In addition to medicines, we also have monthly expenses for kitty litter. We need a litter that prevents mosquitoes, urine infiltration and bad odors, which has a monthly cost of 650,000 Colombian pesos due to the large number of cats we have and the need for multiple litter boxes. We also buy food, with a total of 540,000 Colombian pesos per month for the dogs and 700,000 Colombian pesos per month for the cats. In addition, our cats not only eat croquettes but also natural food worth 200,000 Colombian pesos per month. It is important to vary your diet to prevent possible future problems such as cancer.
