Help me create mechanical prostheses for children and adults with disabilities

My name is Carlos and I am a mechatronics engineer from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. I am passionate about robotics and 3D part design, but above all, I am motivated to support people more directly.

The idea of the project was born from a conversation with a very close friend, whose son has a malformation in his right hand. The boy goes to kindergarten and tends to be very shy and withdrawn because the other children do not want to play with him because of his appearance. The boy always asks his mother “Mommy, when will my other little hand grow?” To which she hugs him and crying answers “Soon my love …”

I want to solve the problem of people who need a prosthesis, I want to help them regain their confidence and self-esteem, I want to offer them a prosthesis that allows them to carry out their daily activities and that they do not feel less than others. I want them to be happy and that they can overcome the loss of their limb.

To achieve this goal, I need to raise 1500 USD to be able to buy the necessary materials and be able to print personalized prostheses, which will be for children, adults, and seniors. The materials are very expensive and require careful design and assembly.

The funds for the project would be needed by the end of this year, I would like that starting in 2024 the project would start to develop and deliver prostheses to each and everyone who needs this help.

The funds would be used to buy 3D printers, mechanisms, springs, wires, a roll of plastic for the printer, acrylic paint to give detail to the prostheses, and advertising campaigns in rural areas so that they can reach those who need it most.
