Improve my father’s quality of life w/ Colon Cancer Stage 4

Hello everyone!

I am Cynthia S. Sas, the eldest daughter of Constantino P. Sas. We reside in Maasin City, Southern Leyte, Philippines. I also live with my mom and aunt, who is a senior citizen. I have two younger sisters, one of whom lives outside of the city. My youngest sister has been helping me run errands and taking care of our ailing father.

A brief description of the case:

My father was physically examined, had laboratory and diagnostic tests, which puts our family in a crisis situation.

Diagnosis:

My father was recently diagnosed with Esophagitis (Grade A), Gastric Ulcer, and Colonic Carcinoma (Stage 4) metastasis to the liver, and his prognosis has been devastating. Despite the medical advice given by his doctors, he refused the conventional treatments of surgery and chemotherapy due to concerns about their potential impact on his quality of life.

The best thing we could do at this really tough time is to take ketogenic metabolic therapy. However, our family has already spent a large amount of money on a series of medical examinations and check-ups, including medicine intake and laboratory and screening tests, which are very expensive on our part. In the meantime, he is also taking medication for his Esophagitis and Gastric Ulcer.

Socio-economic Situation:

My father is a retiree, while my mother is a stay-at-home mom, both of whom are dependent on my father’s pension/social security benefits. He doesn’t have HMO coverage, and his government healthcare (PhilHealth) and senior citizen benefits can only help to a certain extent.

I am a self-employed individual, and my sister, who lives away, both earn just enough to cater to our family’s daily basic needs. My father’s medication is hard for us to bear alone. We’re trying to look for the said amount from external sources since the resources of our family cannot guarantee my father’s medication and therapy, and we are still recovering from the costs incurred from the series of medical examinations.

I am earnestly requesting medical services/assistance to be able to pay for my father's medication and therapy expenses.
