We want to go to a country where we have a better quality of life

We want to go to a country where we have better study opportunities for our children and sources of employment for us.

We are a young couple with small children who are in the stage of training and early education. We want to go to Colombia, specifically to Medellín where we have already been told that there are a wide variety of study and work opportunities according to our professions. We are in Venezuela, specifically in the city of Merida, and it is a widely known fact that our country is complete chaos from every point of view. What worries us the most is the low quality of study of our children (4 and 7 years old), whose teachers earn a miserable salary that does not cover even 20% of the basic basket and for this reason many times they cannot fully cover the class schedules, planning only 3 days a week from 8 am to 11 am. What can a child learn in 9 hours a week? On the other hand, as a parent I feel frustrated, since I am an English teacher and here I have not been able to find job opportunities that pay accordingly for my work. The few places where I have been offered an opportunity offer payments well below what my academic preparation demands. These are the reasons why I decided together with my wife to dedicate ourselves to undertaking something of our own, with which we could be compensated to the extent of our effort: we began to sell yogurt with fruit jams, but then there is another limitation that is transportation, since that the issue of gasoline is really chaos in this city, where in order to access the service you must participate in a kind of raffle, and go fill up a tank of gasoline when they tell you, and the amount they tell you, to which many times you must invest up to 12 hours in an endless queue that usually starts a day before, and you must spend the whole night occupying your space so that someone else does not take it from you.

Our electrical appliances are at constant risk of breakdown since here they turn off the light up to 3 times a day, without prior notice and for periods of between 2 and 4 continuous hours. In this way, it is really difficult for us to preserve food or our products, which sometimes decompose, and if any appliance burns, the government is not responsible for anything. Everything I am reporting is completely verifiable and widely known on social networks. We feel that life is slipping away from us here, that we are not moving forward, that our children are not learning or improving academically, and we believe that we deserve to improve our quality of life and that of our children, who are barely 4 and 7 years old. If anyone does not know, the basic salary in Venezuela is currently $46.14 and the basic basket is approximately $400. I have already applied to several language institutes in Medellín and they have given me interviews and corresponding evaluations, which I have passed. We decided to choose Medellín, since we know that it is a tourist city where bilingual employees are required who receive a very good salary above the basic salary established by the state. The amount we are requesting would be enough for us to: pay for transportation ($200), rent an apartment or house ($200), buy a refrigerator ($150), a washing machine ($150), invest in raw materials to make our desserts and yogurts upon arrival ($100).
