Covid-19 Relief

In the Philippines, the government is in full-on blitz to combat the spread of COVID-19. The majority of the population is under an "Enhanced Community Quarantine" where everyone is confined within their homes and only one designated family member is allowed to leave the house to buy bare essentials they may need.

For the wealthy, this is no problem. They would simply stock up with food and wait it out. Sadly, for the majority of the population, this is not an option. These families live on a day-to-day basis, have no savings, and, because of the current situation, now have no source of income for food.

We want to help these individuals, especially the elderly, high-risk individuals, and families with children. This fundraising will help them gain access to food, water, and other essential items they will need to weather this pandemic.

The need is so great. Cebuano regularly has roughly 50% unemployment -- most of the residents are elderly or children; and, those who can work often leave the country to find jobs.

We've helped more than 150 families

I'm working with my brother in law to create this project so we can help the people in my village and also in the next village. So far, we delivered relief packages to 120 families on the first batch and 36 families on the second batch. And we would like to help this particular people up until our government end of the quarantine period.

We need your support so we can get through this together

Please give if you can. Our goal will be to help the elderly (especially those raising their grandchildren), the immune-compromised and mobility impaired, single parents, and struggling families.

We will be helping them buy groceries, water, health supplies, and necessary items so they (and their vulnerable communities) can be protected from exposure to the virus. Engaged volunteers will make these purchases and deliver them to a safe transfer location for our beneficiaries.

We are also helping to stop the spread of COVID-19 on these reservations by engaging volunteers to sew masks for selected individuals. We will also use these funds to help purchase the fabric for these masks. Lastly, we will invest in a media campaign to urge folks to stay home and practice social distancing, and to embrace sterilization practices.

We are forming a non-profit organization, be part of us

Given the amazing support for this effort, we are forming a non-profit organization to manage this work and expend these funds. The funds from this campaign will be used to make direct purchases, or reimbursement of purchases by volunteers, bulk food and medical items, and other purchases made on behalf of our beneficiaries, such as water, food from supermarkets, PPE, and other items necessary to keep our beneficiaries safe and secure.
