SUPPORT FOR LEARNING AND WRITING MATERIALS IN NIGERIAN

Hello everyone,

My name is Kingsley Onyema. I am Community Development Service advocate with a great passion in Volunteering and bringing solutions to common rural society problems especially in the area of Early Childhood Compulsory Education in the rural communities In Nigeria. I am also the founder of the Every Child’s Education Matters Foundation (ECEM FOUNDATION)

I have been carrying out this project of providing leaning and writing material for the deprived children in the rural communities in Nigeria at the beginning of every academic year just as schools are about to resume now and other similar projects alone and sometimes with the help of my team members contributing money to carry out all our projects and this is the first time we are seeking support on this platform.

Motives behind the project:

Research shows that Out of school rates for children from rural areas (36%) are higher than those for children from urban areas (12%) in Nigeria. In terms of absolute numbers, there are more children out of school in rural areas (7,196,846) than in urban areas (1,092,701).

It’s on this note that we began to think of how little we could contribute to remedy the situation. Through our little engagements in the rural communities, I realized that the children in the rural communities tend to remain in school when they receive some forms of motivations in form of learning and writing materials, school bags, school uniform etc. since poverty is one of the major reasons for school dropout in the rural areas of Nigeria.

We have mapped out major affected areas. We hope to cover about 4 major local government areas and with your support, we’ll be able to reach out to close to 1,000 children in the rural communities. The estimated budgets are to spend $300 each on each local government and $300 for the logistics.
