PLEASE PROTECT & HELP WHISTLESBLOWER PATRICIA MASHALE

Hello everyone,

My name is Patricia Mashale. I have been working as an administration clerk since 2007 in the South African Police. I started to blow the whistle on gross corruption and crimes committed by the management of SAPS in 2008,which resulted in the management being removed, but no action or criminal charges were brought against them in terms of an investigation report. In 2018,I blew the whistle again on the smuggling of firearms in police storage facilities, meant for destruction. Nothing came of the investigation, instead my identity was compromised by one of the investigators. In January 2021, I blew the whistle again to the former National Commissioner on corruption, nepotism and criminal activities committed by senior management. As a result of my protected disclosures I suffered severe retaliation and occupational detriment and was dismissed for misconduct because of my protected disclosures. I also survived three direct attempts on my life and was forced into hiding in February 2022. Malicious criminal charges were also brought against me by one of the senior officials that I implicated in my protected disclosures by virtue of a protection order to stop me from exposing his role in the corruption. I was arrested and charged criminally on a civil matter and on my appearance in court, I requested the court to excuse my from further proceedings since my life is at risk and I might be killed on my way to and from court. The magistrate agreed with the arrangement on condition that my lawyer be present at all times,which happened. A new Magistrate in the matter rejected the arrangement and issued a warrant of arrest,I was also red listed internationally,which placed my life in more danger. On 17 August 2023, I decided to hand myself over voluntarily to court,where I was arrested,chained and placed in an ice cold locker room until my appearance in court,where I was released on R1000 bail. The trial is set for 30 October 2023. I have been in hiding without any means of income for almost two years. I have children who are suffering because there is no income at all to clothe and feed them. I don't get any assistance from the government, although I have been declared as a whistlesblower by the South African Human Rights Commission. I have been receiving small donations from good Samaritans and my lawyers are representing me pro bono. All I need currently is to sustain myself and my children until this whole nightmare is over. My youngest son is 12 years old and are going through the most,even his school work is suffering. I don't know how much longer I will be able to be on the run and live from hand to mouth until the President of the country eventually assist me in my plights to him. I have been all over the media and news but the government is turning a blind eye. Being a whistlesblower is South Africa is a death sentence and I might not live to see another day like Babita Deokran.
