PIE, the emotional support kitten

Hello everyone,

This is my kitten, his name is Apple Pie. He is a very loving and playful emotional support kitty. Pie has been with me for a year and 9 months when he was rescued by my nephew at his school, where some children were mistreating him. As a result, his right eye was damaged and a white spot appeared in his eye. After being rescued , I decided to adopt him and take care of him.

Since then he has been with me and has been very helpful to me in dealing with my anxiety problem. In 2022 I had to flee my country Nicaragua due to political persecution to Costa Rica, where I am currently with my kitten. It was difficult to bring him with me since I entered the country irregularly, but I still did everything in my power not to abandon him.

In Costa Rica I requested refuge, but I was only given the status of a refugee applicant without a work permit as dictated by the current laws in the country, this makes it impossible for me to have a stable job within the country , since many companies have refused to hire me for not having this permit, so I have been forced to do temporary and unstable jobs. Due to my situation, I requested help from UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees ) and they enrolled me in a refugee resettlement program. After several months waiting for a response, I was selected to resettle in the United States, however, the aid only benefits me, the program does not have the resources to help me take Pie with me on this trip.

Due to this situation, I need to find, on my own, the money for the veterinary consultation, the vaccines and certificates necessary for Pie to leave the country and enter the United States, as well as the expenses associated with his transportation. p>

After consulting with the only 2 companies that offer this service, the budget is around 1,500 dollars, a figure which I cannot obtain because I do not have a job and the trip is planned for the month of January.

I do not have family or acquaintances in Costa Rica to leave Pie in his care, and I would not like to abandon him either, since we are both very close and I cannot conceive a new life in a strange country without the support and affection of my kitten.
