The Hidden Crime behind Closed Doors: Violence Against Men

Hello! My name is Oyetayo Raymond Ojoade. I am a filmmaker living in Trinidad and Tobago. I will like to assist men in Trinidad and Tobago who have been abused by their spouses, partners or girlfriends and cannot seek help for lack of proof and mainly because of their ego.

Most men tend to shy away and keep it hidden which causes more problems for them. I want to create a documentary film that will be used to sensitize government agencies, charities/nonprofits, and advocacy groups that work with victims who need assistance.

Currently there are only shelters for abused women and none for men. The voices of men need to be heard too and I intend to use the funds raised to produce a documentary to assist in getting the word out.

The documentary is part of my masters program which should be completed by June 2021. This project will benefit a lot of victims by raising awareness and educating the public about violence against men (VAM).

A major problem most victims face is neglect from authorities when they seek assistance mainly due to the fact that their stories are not taken seriously. This documentary will try to highlight possible solutions to issue.

It is time to stop violence against men.
