Save Chile’s first Women B&B Accommodation!

Dear everyone,

We are Ivonne and Lorvit. We are in our mid 50s and we both live in Mujer Rio which is situated in Loncotraro, Villarrica, Chile. We are the owners of Mujer Rio - Women Only B&B in Chile.

In January 2020 we opened Chile’s first women only bed and breakfast.

We took the initiative to open up this women only bed and breakfast in Chile because we wanted to provide women travelers not only with a safe place to spend their holiday, but a place where they could meet up, share their experiences and learn from one another.

However, we did not want this to be simply another B&B. We wanted this place to grow. Because we are in such a beautiful green space, we had plans to have women's meditation groups as well as healing groups here. We also wanted to work with other women who have small businesses and give them the opportunity to display their products, artwork etc and use this house to present workshops.

We were hit hard by the tourism crisis

We were developing this start up amid the struggling situation of political unrest in Chile, and finally managed to inaugurate it at the end of January 2020. However, soon after we were forced to close due to the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic.

With no clients, we have no income and we are in risk of losing our small business which we have worked so hard to set up. Our dream Project which was to open the country´s first women only accomodation and provide women with a different travelling experience has all been put on hold due to the current situation.

Help us cover the rent and bills

We opened this project because we are struggling at the moment to cover our basic expenses which are rent and amenity bills (electricity, gas, phone etc). Our landlord kindly lowered our rent until June but even so, we need approximately $728 USD to cover these payments, and from July onward we will have an extra $500 USD rent cost per month. If we can’t meet these requirements we will have to close our accommodation.

We are asking for funding to partially help cover the costs of our rent and monthly bills. All the funding we receive will be used exclusively to cover the rent and bills.

We feel Mujer Rio has great potential. We want it to be both a B&B and a focal point for women to come together to learn and teach. Having opened up less than 3 months ago and invested so much in this place, we are asking the opportunity to keep this place going.

Please help us to keep going. We have only just opened and already face the possibility of closing down before we have been given a chance to grow.
