From Ashes to Hope: a survival journey from Gaza

Dear kind-hearted individuals,

We are an extended family of 17 people, including five children under the age of 5 and my parents in their late 50s. We are refugees in a 4m x 3m room on a roof that serves as a bedroom, living room, and kitchen. Within our small rooftop room in Rafah, we hold onto hope amidst the rubble of our shattered home in the North of Gaza.

My name is Mahmoud Subhi. I was an occupational therapist driven by a fervent desire to see children flourish despite the shadows of conflict. The flames of war have left us with nothing but ashes; our once vibrant rehabilitation center is now a memory in ruins.

As I stand before you, the weight of responsibility for my family's survival presses heavily upon my shoulders. Five months adrift, my parents, five young siblings, and I face each day with uncertainty, our livelihoods lost to the chaos of war.
