MedEnforce KZ- a nonprofit project aiming to fight COVID-19.

Hey guys!

My friends and I have created MedEnforce KZ in order to help and improve the situation with COVID-19 in Kazakhstan. The aim of our project is to raise funds through various fundraisers, organized academic courses, and online workshops and seminars in order to buy medical supplies and resources for hospitals in need. Our first goal is to buy masks and face shields for a hospital in the Talgar region, in which more than 200 medical workers are forced to work with coronavirus patients without any protective gear.

For the past couple of weeks, the situation with COVID-19 has been extremely difficult for our people, hospitals, and charity organizations. Kazakhstan went back to a country-wide lockdown on July 5 when COVID-19 cases soared.The second lockdown, expected to last no less than two weeks, appears to be the world's first such reimposition of a national lockdown. Since the first cases were reported in mid-March, Kazakhstan had documented 48,574 cases of the novel coronavirus as of July 6, and cases are only expected to rise in the next few weeks!

The situation is getting out of hand. Overcrowded hospitals have to resort regularly to reject non-critical patients. Most do not even have access to emergency care. Those who wish to self-medicate fail to get their hands on medications because hospitals are out of antiviral and fever-calming medicines. To make matters worse, crowds swarm outside of pharmacies day and night, barely holding social space, as recommended by health officials.
